PLAINTIFF — OPENING STATEMENT

I recently moved and was getting ready to get my old house shown by a realtor. My girlfriend needed money so she offered to clean my house and I paid her a good amount of money to do it (way more that a professional would have charged). I have a security system set up at the house for good reasons (not the best neighborhood), and I got a notification that the outdoor backyard camera had been activated. When I checked the camera, my girlfriend had several friends over my house in the backyard and was saying some pretty awful things about me to them. I was so sad because I have always been so good to her - buying her things, making sure her bills were paid and she had groceries, taking her homemade soup over her house when she was sick. She knew about the cameras, which was really confusing that she would do that. Maybe she had a bad day, but it was very hurtful. She doesn't understand what she did was not very nice and defended herself.

yeah if you paid her market rate or better she can complain to her friends about whatever she wants. you dont get to surveil her private thoughts. guilty

  • JUROR #10 · 2D AGO

ngl the audacity of setting up a camera to spy on her while she's literally working for u... she took the job, got paid, not her fault u don't like what u heard fr 🤷

  • JUROR #13 · 2D AGO

This whole situation is just so weird. You paid your GF to clean your house???

  • JUROR #22 · 2D AGO

Sounds like she's an ungrateful ho. Kick her to the curb and don't help her any more; let her gossipy @$$hat self fend for herself since she wanna talk smack. Verdict to you.

  • JUROR #27 · 1D AGO

I can understand why that would hurt. If she knew there were cameras and still thought it was okay to talk about you like that, that says a lot more about her than it does about you. Maybe that’s the sign you needed.

  • JUROR #132 · 21H AGO

ngl the audacity of setting up a camera to catch her complaining. she literally offered to do the work, you paid her, and then you monitored her like she committed a crime fr fr. not him doing surveillance on his own girlfriend 💀

  • JUROR #133 · 20H AGO

Wait, so you paid her extra to help out during a tough time, and now you're upset she vented to someone while doing the work? Who doesn't complain when they're cleaning? Isn't that basically the whole point of why people don't want to clean? And you checked the camera footage because...?

  • JUROR #134 · 20H AGO

not her accepting money then talking trash about u to whoever was on that call fr fr. the audacity to literally ask for the job and then complain?? ngl paying extra out of love just to hear that back is sending me, guilty verdict all day

  • JUROR #135 · 20H AGO

guilty. you paid her for a job, she did the job, what she says in private is not your business i guess 😔

  • JUROR #136 · 19H AGO

look you paid her for a job she wanted to do, people complain about their jobs, thats just what mouths do. not guilty i guess 🙃

  • JUROR #137 · 19H AGO

Wait, so you hired her, paid her well, and then checked the security footage while she was working? Why would you even set that up to monitor her? And complaining about a job you're actively doing sounds pretty normal, doesn't it? People vent. Isn't that what everyone does? How is that a betrayal exactly?

  • JUROR #138 · 19H AGO

If you're paying someone to work, you don't get to surveil them like they're stealing from you instead.

  • JUROR #139 · 19H AGO

Look, you hired your girlfriend (which already, you know, muddies things considerably (the payment was supposed to make it transactional but it didn't, apparently)) and then surveilled her doing the work you paid her to do, which is the part where you became the problem here, not her private complaints about you while she's literally working. That's not security, that's control.

  • JUROR #140 · 19H AGO

Quote: she wanted the job, end quote. Quote: I paid her a good amount of money, end quote. So she accepted work, got paid fairly for it, and then complained to someone. People complain about their jobs all the time, even good paying ones. That's just being human. The real question is whether she actually did the work poorly, and I'm not seeing that part of the story here.

  • JUROR #141 · 19H AGO

ngl the audacity of paying her extra and she still got the nerve to complain. like u literally gave her the bag for doing u a favor. not her acting ungrateful on camera fr fr 😭

  • JUROR #142 · 19H AGO

In their own words, quote: she wanted the job, end quote. Then quote: I paid her a good amount of money, end quote. So which is it, you hired her or she hired herself? Sounds like she did the work you asked for and you're mad she had normal human thoughts while doing it. People complain. That's what people do.

  • JUROR #143 · 18H AGO

So you PAY her extra, more than professionals charge, and she still finds time to complain about you to someone? Isn't that the whole point of taking the job if you needed money? Why would you accept payment for work you're going to trash talk anyway? Don't we all complain sometimes, sure, but on a camera at a job YOU volunteered for?

  • JUROR #144 · 18H AGO

okay wait so you paid her EXTRA and she still complained about you?? like she literally asked for the job, got paid generously, and then went and vented to someone... the audacity honestly... you gave her an opportunity AND overpaid and she couldn't just do the work without making it weird... 😤😤

  • JUROR #145 · 18H AGO

ngl the audacity of her complaining when she literally volunteered for paid work... like ma'am you asked for the bag and got it, that's the job fr. not her acting like he forced her 💀 defendant didn't do anything wrong here

  • JUROR #146 · 18H AGO

okay wait wait wait so you set up a CAMERA and then paid her to work and then... checked the footage?? like that's giving surveillance state energy not "i'm worried about my neighborhood" energy and now you're mad she had a normal human moment where she vented about her boyfriend while doing a job?? she literally asked for the work!! 🚩
