    Obviously Not Paying Attention

    By lighthouse

How much does it cost to pay attention any way? Sometimes people fumble the ball at our expense without realizing the significance of their bumbling. Choices may be made by people, government, businesses, or other divisions of organization that completely lacks appropriate structure. This, we would like to refer to as "fumblitis". Now since fumblitis may be a incurable desease,  we ask that you fasten your words with tack.

Then they came for me …

They came first for the communists, and I did not speak out - because I am not a communist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I am not a Jew.
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I am not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I am not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics, and I did not speak out - because I am not a Catholic.
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me.
      Martin Niemoller (1892 - 1984)

All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.
      Thomas Jefferson

“With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, “Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?”
